I hate doing this, but this is a re-re-reboot post. I've been a baaaad boy and haven't been keeping up with my posts. It's been a little over five months, so as president Donald Trump would say, "Sad." But, this is a re-re-reboot post, so nothing but positive reflection from here on out.
That one's easy. I was super busy. Combine that with me wanting to provide useful and thorough posts that would potentially help people. I should have just aimed for a useful post or even slightly useful post. The term "useful post" is amibiguous and relative, so I'm going to define it right now.
A post that describes anything that can be remotely useful to someone. That's still pretty ambiguous. Let me go further. The requirements for a "useful post" are the following:
This definition allows me to write short posts and have higher chances of being consistent, which in turn allows me to express myself more frequently. Expression is good for the soul. Having said that, I'm going to try quick weekly updates of what I've been up to at work and at home. I got some projects going, so I got stuff to talk about.
I have been working on creating a POC (proof of concept) for an integrated approach to joining meetings in a web app with the Zoom web client. The sample app had a couple of problems with the module they were using to run the Node server part of it. Then it had a weird issue with generating a security signature, where you had to set the time of the signature ten minutes in the past for it to work. I'm lucky they had a forum of confused users having the same issue with each giving hints as to what the issue may be. Anyways, it was a terrible experience and I'm (maybe) putting it on my list to throw something on Github that actually has this working out of the box. Maybe.
I don't know what the word on the street is, but Node.js is excellent for prototyping and getting a web server up and running quickly. You could get a REST endpoint going in Node.js in about the same time it takes to load Visual Studio 2017. I'm not sure about Visual Studio 2019, because I haven't tried it yet. I'm exaggerating, but my point is that's it pretty quick.
I never mentioned this to anyone, because I don't want to be embarrassed if I don't complete it, but I'm working on a side project in Node.js. It's a comedy listings site. I like going to amateur comedy shows every now and then, but I found it really difficult to find them. That is until I found a Facebook group that makes you answer dumb questions about solidarity to the comedy scene and being supportive and stuff. I did what anyone would do and just said, "Yeah, sure." After that, I unlocked the door to recent listings and everything became easier to find. It makes sense, if you want the public to come see you, put up listings behind Facebook's walled garden. Anyways, that's where I got the idea to do that. Then again, I may pivot and just watch the new season of Mike Tyson Mysteries instead.
That it's unnecessary to use two spaces after a period? I came across an article where it said the double spaces were only meant for typewriters and nobody uses those abmominations anymore. You're welcome.
